Dog Constipation:

Constipation is usually a sign of large bowel disorder and is characterized by infrequent and/or difficult bowel movements. Stools may be hard and dry causing pain and straining. Constipation is not a disease in and of itself.

Dog Constipation Causes:

Colon dysfunction; dehydration; hair/foreign bodies.

Dog Constipation Treatment:

This is directed toward the underlying condition causing the constipation. Symptomatic treatment includes diet, laxatives and enemas.

Dog Constipation Prevention:

Keep pet well hydrated. Provide insoluble fiber in your pet’s diet (eg. green beans, whole wheat, corn bran).
